Prime Big Deal Days PC Deals: Which Are Real Lows?

Prime Big Deal Days PC deals checked against our UK price history: which parts hit record lows on 6 October, and which only look cheap against a recent price.

8 min readMatt Lambert

Prime Big Deal Days runs from 6 to 7 October in the UK, and Amazon is full of "deal" badges on PC parts. Some of those prices are the lowest we have ever recorded. Plenty of others look like a big saving only because they are compared with a recent price, and you could have paid less earlier this year.

We track Amazon UK prices for about 3,000 components, most of them since February. So on the afternoon of 6 October we checked each product's latest price against two things: its average price over the fortnight before the sale (22 September to 4 October), and the lowest price we had recorded for it before the sale started.

On 29 September, a normal day, 66 products were 10% or more below that two-week average. On 6 October it was 227, and 64 were 20% or more below. Prime Day discounts are real and widespread. Whether a particular one is worth having depends on that second number.

Prices below are what Amazon showed our tracker on 6 October. They can change within the hour, and some deals are for Prime members only. Each product link opens its full price history, so check the current price there before you buy.

Prime Day PC deals at record lows

These are new (not used or renewed) products where the 6 October price is lower than anything we recorded before the sale. If one of these is on your list, this is the cheapest it has been since we started tracking it.

Storage

Product Price on 6 Oct Two-week average Previous low
Corsair MP600 Mini 2TB (M.2 2230) £222.99 £343.33 £254.34
Acer Predator GM7000 4TB £391.38 £514.99 £411.99
PNY CS900 250GB SATA £34.99 £47.04 £35.99
Seagate Desktop 8TB external £213.85 £269.99 £269.99
SanDisk Phone Drive 256GB £46.20 £69.99 £53.17

The Corsair MP600 Mini is the stand-out. It is a 2230-size drive, so it suits a Steam Deck, ROG Ally or a small laptop slot rather than a desktop, and at £222.99 it is more than £30 under its previous low. The Acer GM7000 4TB is a full-size Gen4 drive with DRAM cache, and around £98 per terabyte is a fair price for a 4TB drive of that class given what NAND costs at the moment. The Seagate Desktop 8TB had sat at £269.99 for every check since we added it at the end of July, so this is its first real move. See the storage page for the rest of the category sorted by price per terabyte.

Memory

Product Price on 6 Oct Two-week average Previous low
Corsair Vengeance RGB RS 16GB DDR4-3200 £116.99 £175.73 £117.59
Kingston Fury Beast RGB 32GB DDR4-3600 kit £348.30 £491.71 £371.81

Both are DDR4. DDR5 did fall: 33 of the 187 new DDR5 kits we track are at record lows today. But the cuts are small, mostly under 5% below the previous low. The TeamGroup T-Force Delta 32GB 6000MHz kits, for example, were around £441 on 6 October, roughly £13.80 per gigabyte, against about £460 before the sale. That is still several times what DDR5 cost before the DRAM shortage. If you are on an AM4 or LGA1700 DDR4 board and need more memory, today is a good day. If you are building new on DDR5, read why RAM prices won't fall until 2028 before you decide whether to wait. The RAM page sorts every kit by price per gigabyte.

Motherboards

Product Price on 6 Oct Two-week average Previous low
ASUS TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi £139.99 £188.99 £159.98
Gigabyte B850 Eagle WiFi7 Ice £142.99 £186.29 £149.99
ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-Plus WiFi7 W £144.49 £184.99 £160.30
ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus WiFi £91.99 £117.65 £99.13
Gigabyte A620M Gaming X £75.99 £94.99 £82.99
NZXT N9 Z890 £249.99 £339.00 £319.00

The ASUS TUF B850-Plus WiFi at £139.99 is £20 under anything we had seen, and three B850 boards are now within a few pounds of each other at £140 to £145. If you are still on AM4, the B550-Plus WiFi at £91.99 is a cheap way to get PCIe 4.0 and a working Wi-Fi card without changing your CPU or memory. The NZXT N9 Z890 is the largest cut here, nearly £70 below its previous low. Browse the motherboards page for socket and chipset filters.

Graphics card

Product Price on 6 Oct Two-week average Previous low
MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Inspire 3X OC £1,199.99 £1,499.99 £1,219.99

The RTX 5080 is only £20 under its previous low, and £1,199.99 is still a lot of money. It is a record low all the same. Compare it against other 5080 models on the GPU page before you commit, because the gap between partner cards can be bigger than the Prime discount.

Deals that are not as good as they look

These all show 20% or more off the price of the last fortnight, and Amazon will badge them as deals. But we have recorded every one of them at a lower price before.

Product Price on 6 Oct Two-week average Lowest we have recorded
Samsung T7 2TB £237.99 £298.19 £201.15
Crucial X10 Pro 4TB £379.99 £479.99 £319.99
G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32GB DDR5-6400 £543.50 £710.33 £450.68
Seagate IronWolf 4TB £190.99 £246.69 £160.99
ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WiFi £189.95 £242.61 £164.99
LaCie Rugged Mini 5TB £158.48 £209.99 £133.31
Seagate Expansion Desktop 16TB £331.54 £431.62 £314.99
Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX Ice £143.99 £190.56 £133.99

None of these is a bad price. The Samsung T7 2TB at £237.99 is a good portable SSD at a fair price. But it was £201.15 earlier this year, and if you are not in a hurry that gap is worth knowing about. The same goes for the G.Skill Trident Z5 kit, although its £450.68 low was in late April and DDR5 has not been back to that level since.

Some products had their price raised before the sale. The ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F averaged about 19% more over the two weeks before Prime Day than over the month before that. Measured against that higher price the saving looks bigger than it is. We saw smaller rises of 11% to 15% on the Kingston Fury Beast kit, the SanDisk Phone Drive and the ASUS B850M-Plus, though all three still ended up at record lows. Of the 22 products in this post, 14 were within 7% of their price in the month before, so most were not raised beforehand.

How to check a Prime Day deal yourself

The "was" price Amazon shows is not a guide to whether a deal is good. It may be the list price or a recent selling price, and either can be well above what the item normally sells for. Before you buy anything this week:

  1. Open the product's price history on TechPartPrices and look at the lowest price over the last few months, not just the last few days.
  2. If today's price is at or near that low, buy it. Prime prices end at 23:59 BST on 7 October, and some will go back up the next day.
  3. If today's price is well above an earlier low, decide whether you need the part now. Black Friday is seven weeks away and the same products tend to come back.
  4. For storage and memory, compare on price per terabyte or per gigabyte rather than headline price. A bigger discount on a smaller drive is often worse value.

Our best value page ranks every category on that basis, and the UK price index shows how each category has moved since the start of the year.
